The said discovery of the
Cell by Robert Hooke (from a cork, in 1600s) and Anton Van Leeuwenhoek (from
bacteria and protozoa while peeping through his microscope to examine a sample
from pond water, in 1674) is a major landmark achievement in science, which
laid the foundation for cytology, microbiology, cell biology and genetics.
Leeuwenhoek referred to
his observed microscopic objects as dierkens
meaning tiny animals or animalcules, which were actually living things known
today as microorganisms. These microorganisms also called microbes are so
called because they measure in microns (micro meters). Though living organisms,
they’re invisible to the eyes and can only be seen with the aid of a microscope.
They’re not visible to an unaided eye yet they play central role in ecosystems
and our survival as humans. Therefore, understanding the human-microbe relation
is as important as studying the human anatomy and physiology.
Several theories were
proposed in the past for the cause of diseases including the miasma (pollution
or bad air) and germ theories. However, sequel to the works of Pasteur in late
1850s and Robert Koch in the 1880s and the discovery of viruses in 1890s all
beating drums to usher in the golden era of bacteriology when the germ theory
eventually silenced the miasma theory following the isolation and
identification of the actual organisms supposedly causing many infectious
diseases, since then, the germ theory had become a widely accepted scientific
theory for many diseases.
On this note, Robert Koch
and Friedrich Loeffler postulated four criteria in 1884 based on Jakob Henle’s
concepts, which was later modified by Koch in 1890 to establish a causative
relationship between the host and the parasite. In their opinion, the bacteria
must be present in every case of the disease and that the causative bacteria
must be recovered or isolated in pure culture of appropriate specimen from the
‘infected’ host and that the specific disease must be reproduced when a sample
is taken from this original pure culture and used to inoculate a healthy but
susceptible host. The question here is why is the host susceptible or what is
responsible or causing this liability in the first place?
This germ theory philosophy
had gripped science and medicine so tenaciously while favouring medical microbiology
to a great extent that a paradigm-shift from cell theory to a revolutionary
germ theory by Koch, Pasteur and Co. kept scientists on their toes for years
searching for a magic bullet to end the menace of infection since it was
believed that most diseases are caused by invading microbes referred to as pathogen.
Germs became so dreadful that the fear of germs could spike up any wisdom to
eradicate them and that prayer seemed answered with the eventual introduction
of antibiotics following the discovery of penicillin in 1928 as the first and
effective broad spectrum antibiotics by Sir Alexander Fleming who also
discovered the enzyme lysozyme from his nasal discharge in 1922. How great was
this victory over disease? Time has revealed that the idea of given orally or
injecting fungal wastes into the body is poisonous and triggers adverse immune
reactions and sensitivity (allergic responses) that are damaging to the body.
Over nine decades on, the story has not been the same; talking of resistance,
side effects, dysbiosis and so on.
Antibiotics became the
turning point in medicine that subjugated natural hygiene and several other
antibiotics have been added to the arsenals against microbes including germicides,
antiseptics, disinfectants, and so on all in a bid to wage war against a labelled
‘foe’. The questions begging for answers are: How have humans faired through
this war? Has it ended or are we giving up to have a review of the former
theories thereby recognizing value rather than threat and thus extending a hand
of fellowship for more reliable and better strategies with the increasing
awareness on probiotics?
In conventional thinking,
the word hygiene is often used synonymously to mean clean or cleanliness in
terms of keeping the environment and the body free of germs by bathing,
brushing teeth, washing, etc. These activities however important may not
suffice for natural hygiene to promote a healthy human form and function. Every
cell of the body is competent and well equipped to self-regenerate,
self-regulate, self-repair (healing) and self-maintaining based on its genetic
and molecular constitution. However, the inherent epigenetic programming via
gene expression that is aimed to sustain a delicate balance (homeostasis) of
oxidation - reduction (Redox) processes of metabolism is to no lesser degree
environmentally influenced. Therefore, providing the right environment is key
to human survival as the environment pulls the trigger for virtually all genetic
predispositions.
The metabolic process is
designed to generate the vital force, the energy required for the actualization
of natural hygiene, which guarantees the wellness of the body.
In holistic doctrine and
teaching, hygiene simply means your ability to operate the 3 core fundamental
or principal natural body cycles (appropriation, assimilation, and elimination)
efficiently and effectively that guarantees the body it's self-regulating, self-cleaning,
self-healing and self-maintaining potential as enshrined by the natural laws of
life which endowed the body with the power to heal itself. Breaking the cycle
or law creates unhygienic situation culminating in a disease.
At what point does the
natural body cycles for self-cleaning (maintenance and healing) broken? At the
point where or when the wrong food goes into the body. This is made evident in
Psalm (103:1-5) KJV:
“Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is
within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all
his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness
and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy
youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”
Our human activities with
respect to hygiene can be likened to washing the outside of a cup glittering
while the inside is nasty, unwashed.
A good or proper hygiene
starts with what goes in into the body through the mouth. Yes, we may try to
hide as spiritual beings under the coverage of Jesus' teaching that what
defiles the body is what comes out of it- the heart (soul), not what goes into
it- the belly (gut) when He said:
"For out of the heart
proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false
witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defiled a man, but to eat with
unwashed hands does not defile a man.”
(Mathew 15:11; Mark 7:15) KJV
This quotation is often misquoted
out of its exact spiritual context and meaning. To use a Bible reference
effectively, we must be able to understand the context and scenario or
situation that called for it in the first place. This was a clear situation of advising
against deadly emotions and social vices especially where people now place
corrupt human practices and doctrines above Divine spiritual ordinance and
Jesus was calling out to the Jews for correction. However, it revealed how
highly the people revered hygiene just as Moses had earlier commanded the
people to always observe to keep all clean so as to avert any unforeseen
infirmity.
Painful as it may appear,
many have cleaned their outward physical bodies (the visible parts of the
flesh) to the neglect and detriment of the whole human personality, frame and
internal environment. To address this, we must always consider our body and
spirit as possessions of God far beyond religious obsession:
“What? Know ye not that
your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of
God, and ye are not your own?
(1 Corinthians 6:19) KJV
Your body deserve more
than you’re giving or attending to it. And always remember that whenever you
are limited by fate, your faith will carry you through. Therefore, I pray for
you:
"Now may the God of
peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be
kept complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." ...
And may your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept sound and blameless at the
coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."
(1
Thessalonians 5:23) KJV
From these scriptures,
it's evident that every individual is a tripartite entity and that the Spirit
of God inhabits or abodes in man. Therefore, the body is significantly
essential for any spiritual manifestation. You must first be alive to be able
to preach the gospel to the living and not for the dead. I mean you need a
sound body for evangelism to proceed or progress. So, the body must be
functional at its best with optimum health.
Thus, what goes into the
body as food is very important because that serves as fuel to power your body
engine. Like the automobile, if you give it the right octane gas it performs
optimally. But if the wrong fuel goes in there the engine may breakdown. We
should be more concerned about the nutritional quality and functionality of our
food rather than paying needless attention to the sterility (‘germ free’) of
the food or caring much for the fear of an infection. Worthy of note is the
fact that sterile foods can actually be harming the body because they are
difficult to digest having lost valuable beneficial microbes (probiotics) that
could have enhanced our digestive health. Moreover, such foods usually lack
food enzymes or have inactive enzymes to aid their digestion, so, they depend
more on the digestive enzymes for their breakdown, which often become
burdensome for the pancreas and wears the adrenals especially for the fact that
these foods are usually refined and high in carbohydrates (sugars) and trans
fats.
"...but to eat with
unwashed hands does not defile a man"
It is literally convincing
that the implication of this statement (highlighted) if critically considered is
far reaching to demystify our fear for "germs" while emphasising on
the real problems (in connection with what is consumed), which are the main
killers, including dehydration, metabolic imbalance, toxaemia, dyslipidaemia,
hormonal imbalance with insulin resistance, malnutrition and micronutrient
deficiency, indigestion, constipation and diarrhoea, deadly emotions like worry,
anger, hatred, envy, jealousy and so on that are ravaging communities beyond
control till this day and time. Some persons may think or even conclude that it
appears Jesus preached against hygiene. No. He's the Lord of the Sabbath and
understands the law vividly as much as He knows that fear is the enemy of man. Although
the body is equipped with an enabler system- the ‘flight or fight’ system of
defence, fear and sustained stress could overwhelm the body so adversely to a
point of exhaustion and immune system failure. He therefore admonished us to
love others as we love ourselves because:
"There is no fear in
love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment."
(1 John 4:18) KJV
When I was a little child
growing up in my village in the wilderness of Seth (the land of Biafra, which
they call south-eastern Nigeria today), we were allowed to eat the soil and
today people still eat humus and I heard then that germs have no effect in the
belly of the natives. I sought to know why. And thanks to God that now I know
that the probiotics in the soil boost our immunity and protect us against all
dis-ease and I'm convinced of its reality. Unfortunately, many Edenites (so
called Africans) have abandoned their ancient paths of herbs and roots
springing forth from the soil- the routes to longevity. And did not the Lord
say:
“He causeth the grass to
grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man; that he may bring forth
food out of the earth;”
(Psalm 104:4) KJV
And
“In the midst of the
street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life,
which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the
leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.”
(Revelations 22:2)
KJV
We pay the ultimate price
dying prematurely in numbers for embracing the germ theory and the ideology of
infection like the gentiles do in ignorance.
No microbe be it bacteria,
fungi, parasites or even viral particles is capable of invading an intact and
efficient immune system. But whenever the function of the immune system is
compromised by uninformed interventions like the use of antibiotics, the immune
response becomes weakened to the extent that it can be invaded. In addition, wrong
environment and persistent fear- stress itself weakens the immune system. It's
actually one of the underlying risk factors for a compromised immune system.
Fear increases the levels of adrenaline rush and cortisol causing the rise in
blood pressure and imbalance of blood sugar, which damages vital tissues and organs
leading to, for example, adrenal exhaustion and fatigue, increased
hypercatabolism and oxidative stress tearing the cells apart.
Malnutrition be it under
nutrition or over nutrition is another major risk factor for metabolic
imbalance and disease state with adverse effects on the immune system. Eating unprocessed
whole organic foods reduce oxidation and supplies the body with the nutrients
to repair this damage, equip the immune system to fight, whereas feeding the
body with empty caloric junks and sugar-laden fast foods worsens and protracts
the condition into chronicity and eventually death.
Sugar is the main and most
important culture medium for pathogenic growth and even cancer cells thrive
well in the presence of sugar and absence of oxygen. So, overloading the system
with sugar supports an unhealthy competition, for instance, in the vagina causing
the displacement of the normal lactose fermenters (lactic acid bacteria) and
replacing them with opportunistic and pathogenic microbes. Ideally, the lactic
acid reduces the pH of the vagina such that ordinarily these pathogens are not
able to survive.
The three core natural
body cycles are key to health and natural hygiene starting with appropriation-
ingestion and digestion of what you eat and drink, and then assimilation- absorption
and metabolism of nutrients to release the energy required to perform elimination,
which is the primary objective of self-cleaning, self-healing and self-maintenance.
Unknown to many, the body generates even more waste from within than from
without. Again, not many people know that the content of their gut is not yet
part of or inside their body until it gains access into the blood via the brush
border. Hence, the gut content is an extension of the environment and that also
demands that the gut be cleaned up like the skin is often cleaned daily. The
gut has more microorganisms residing in it than we could imagine but most of these
micro-organisms are beneficial and they outnumber us both in genome size and
cell number. In other words, we are said to be more microbial than human.
Let's not forget that
everything that has a beginning also has an end. The cells of our body that
helps us to achieve our number to live up to 120 years also have their
lifespan; they age and die. Infact, their degeneration rather than regeneration
determines how soon we age and die. Take for instance, the red blood cells have
a lifespan of about 120 days (that's about 4 months); when they are old (aged)
they are picked up by the Spleen (a special organ in the body that filters the
blood to remove old and dead blood cells), dismantled and recycled to generate
new cells while the waste of it is eliminated. In as much as the balance
between degeneration of old cells and regeneration of new cells is maintained
as new blood cells are generated from the bone marrow to replace the worn out
ones, life goes on as vitality and health is guaranteed. However, if any
imbalance occurs especially in favour of dying cells then there's a problem.
The endogenous waste soon overwhelms the clean-up system: these cell debris
form major waste materials coming from within that requires an efficient and
effective natural hygiene not physical hygiene per se to be eliminated from the
body.
The quality and quantity
of the gut flora determines the gut health and to a large extent contributes to
the process of natural hygiene and our general wellness: a poor microbiota
community results in poor health and quality of life.
Healing is an integral
part of the design of the human body and its functional processes. The human life
was actually designed to operate on a balance like a pendulum that swings to
and fro between two peaks of healing and resting at a central tendency of optimum
health separated by periods of healing (what we often call sickness).
The Chinese healers
understand this principle of balance so well that it based its traditional
Chinese medicine on Yin and Yang and the balance of the 5 elements of nature-
fire, wood, earth, metal and water.
As far as life is
concerned, energy (vital force) is key: It's the core of every human existence.
Infact, that is the power of the being in us. As long as energy flows, there's
life but, the moment it stops flowing, life ceases and death occurs. The foods
we consume can improve this energy or inhibit it. Energy flows through channels
of circulation including the collaterals and we can feel it when in health but
it becomes used up during the healing process. This explains the weakness and
fatigue we feel when the body is healing (you may wish to say sick).
If the life energy flows
through blood, then it will be wise for humans to consume blood to tap this
vital life force. But God forbids man to eat blood (Genesis 9:4) and we are
bound to obey because apart from being sacred, blood can be poisonous if
consumed. However important energy is to the body, it must be regulated and
flow in a balanced fashion. Under-nutrition provides the body with less energy
and heat to function leading to stunted growth, under functioning immune system
not capable to fight and prevent infection, anaemia, etc. while over-nutrition
also provides excess unregulated energy mainly in the form of heat capable of causing
catastrophe and imbalance in the system, which worsens when empty calorie foods
are consumed denying the body of essential nutrients to restore the balance. The
result could be excess fat and accumulation of adipose tissue (obesity)
building up several chronic degenerative conditions. The disrupted system lose
control and may summersault into cancer.
We strongly advise you
overcome your fears to save your life. Also check if your system is running an
acid race or on sympathetic mode. Then check if you have adrenal insufficiency
when fatigued. We put you on programs that repair your systems and help you
recover fully without drugs even when your immune system is damaged.
Presently, there is an
increasing demand for organic foods. But chemically speaking, all carbon-based
compounds are organic. Therefore, in that sense every food can be said to be organic
for as long as they possess a carbon skeleton. But organic food in the context
of this discussion simply means ‘non-chemical,’ adulterated or refined food;
grown without fertilizer, herbicides, pesticides and free of antibiotics and
growth hormones (usually added to improve productivity) and free of additives
and preservatives i.e. no any form of or treatment with artificial agents and
above all non-genetically modified or bioengineered. That simply means natural.
Beyond food security, modernized
agriculture therefore could be said to be a killer agenda determined to shorten
lifespan on earth by introducing deadly inputs that have not only robbed the
soil of its nutrients and healing elements but also the foods that we eat.
Whole foods (including
whole grains, legumes, seeds, nuts, fresh vegetables and fruits) require little
or no processing. You don't have to turn them into flour; the constituent parts
should still be intact. Take for instance, bean cooked and eaten is still a
whole food but the moment you soak it in water and remove the hull then blend
to make your bean cake (Akara) it's no longer a whole food; it has lost fibre
and other essential nutrients.
When the body lacks the
healing ingredients, the immune cells are out of balance and an infection
becomes possible e.g. Trichomonas
vaginalis may colonize the vagina. Again, when vital nutrients are lacking,
depression can set in affecting the mental process with mood swings and
attitude that further impair the immune system. Stress and lifestyle as well as
nutrient deficiency impacts the immune system negatively. And when a victim is
meant to undergo a full blood count test, the imbalance will be obviously
indicated in the proportions of the immune cells; the phagocytic neutrophils
becomes dormant and scanty while lymphocytes are likely to be high indicating
compromised immune function. The focus of any treatment regimen should be to
restore the balance and improve immune function not targeting the ‘pathogen’ or
‘parasite’ because when the immune system recovers, it clears these supposedly
offending microbes.
A peep into cellular
parasitology will suggest for example, in case of malaria to stop sugars and
alkalinize (reduce) the system with green foods rich in antioxidants to restore
normal physiology and improve the adaptive capacity of the immune cells,
hepatic, pancreatic and adrenals to function optimally when the body is
provided with adequate quality protein and good oils to power the mitochondria
and improve metabolism to enable the liver and other organs and glands stand a
better chance in the competition while neutrophils, monocytes, macrophages and
natural killer cells eat up the invader.
The thyroid is the chief
organizer for metabolism and for those with impaired thyroid function we recommend
whole grains (no wheat or wheat products except for the parasympathetic types),
fresh vegetables and fruits (in moderation for those that have developed
cancer), no dairy except skim milk (boiled with some lemon or lime juice) and
plain, unsweetened yoghurt. Avoid caffeine (especially if a fast oxidizer or
sympathetic type), margarine, alcohol (even red wine should not be consumed
more than a glass cup a day), soft drinks, sugar and sweeteners, butter (may be
high in trans fats), microwaved or fried food, table salt (not to be avoided by
those that are hypotensive but use sparingly sea salt or Himalayan salt), candy,
pastry, refined fruit juice, jams, jelly, ice creams, cakes, ketchup, all
refined flour meals, bread, processed cereals and grains, limit avocado, beans,
peas, lentils, cauliflower, spinach, asparagus, red meats and organ meats, etc.
We also recommend
supplementary Vitamin A, Vitamin E, B vitamins, Vitamin C with Acerola,
Rosehips and Citrus Bioflavonoids, Flaxseed oil, Extra Virgin Coconut oil, Cinnamon,
Basil, Lime juice, Fenugreek, Cumin, Zylopia, Turmeric, Ginger, Garlic, Black
seed, Clove, fresh tomatoes cooked in extra virgin Olive oil (for stews, no
frying), Carrots, Beets, Celery juice. Don’t forget the probiotics instead avoid
antibiotics when not necessary.
A good recipe for stew
without frying the oil: blend tomatoes with fresh spices including clove, chilli
cayenne peppers, onions, ginger, garlic and turmeric in appropriate amounts. Add
fresh extra virgin Olive oil or cold pressed coconut oil to the blended mix and
cook till it becomes a paste. Then pour into an air-tight container and store
in the refrigerator to serve as your tomato paste. You can always take a
quantity to be used and add your vegetable and source of protein (e.g. grilled
fish) and serve with little organic oil like flaxseed oil. We strongly caution
against use of artificial spices and sodium glutamates. Preferably use sea salt
or Himalayan salt.
When taking raw fresh
fruit juices and smoothies, add 1 tablespoon of flaxseed oil. It’s better to
juice your fibrous vegetables and make smoothies from fruits; fruits should be
consumed with all its fibre intact. You can also add freshly ground flaxseed
and berries and seeded grapes to taste.
